Allogeneic Stem Cells & Allogeneic cell transplantation

As opposed to autologous stem cells, allogeneic stem cells are isolated from donors then expanded into different cell lineages before given to patient needing a mesenchymal stem cell transplant. Unlike autologous cells allogeneic cells do not require surgical or painful extraction methods and can be safely given to replace patients own stem cells that have been destroyed by disease, injury of treatments requiring or high doses of chemotherapy. Allogeneic stem cell transplants have been used to suppress diseases and proactively treat rebuild patient immune systems for over 50 years mainly to treat blood related cancers, such as lymphoma, leukemia and other types of diseases like lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer or auto-immune system disorders.

The Basics of Stem Cells Research

Some sources of allogeneic stem cells include:

Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants

Stem cells are also present inside different types of human tissue including:

However, stem cells can be difficult to extract and culture for medical use. Cells can also stay in a non-dividing / non-specific form for years until the body recruits them to repair or grow new tissue or begin the healing process after injury.

Adult Stem Cells

Also referred to as “somatic stem cells,” adult stem cells are known as undifferentiated or “blank” cells present in the body. In spite of its name, adult stem cells are present in both adults and the young. Their primary purpose is to compensate for the degenerative cells by replacing them through multiplication, and the eventual repair of damaged tissue.

Wharton Jelly Amniotic Membrane Stem Cell Banking

Stem cell therapies in Thailand are a promising alternative medical intervention that’s is changing the way diseases and degeneration are being treated. With the advent of this technology, scientists and researchers are finding new sources of adult stem cells that can help treat hundreds of conditions like Diabetes,ALS,Spinal Cord injuries, kidney renal failure and even cosmetic cell based therapy such as stem cell facelifts and Cell Assisted breast reconstruction surgery. Stem cells have the unique ability to grow or “differentiate” into many different kind of cells. Stem cells can be pictured as a basically the mother of all cells that has the ability to give “birth” to different typos of baby cells such as skin cells, cardiac heart cells, tooth cells, blood cells and brain cells.

In 1656, Thomas Wharton described the gelatinous substance inside the umbilical cord in his publication Adenographia or The Description of the Glands of the Entire Body. This gelatinous substance was later named after himself or Wharton’s jelly. During the early development stage of the embryo, multipotent stem cells which are also called umbilical cord matrix (UCM) moves into the mesonephric region of the embryo and forms the fetal liver through the umbilical cord. This only means that these primitive cells are trapped during the early embryological age and retains their properties as stem cells.

 Wharton’s Jelly Use & Function

Wharton jelly supports and insulates the arteries and veins inside the umbilical cord. However, when it is exposed to a sudden change in temperature it causes collapse in the internal structures of the umbilical cord which provides a biological clamping of the cord after about five minutes of childbirth.

Nowadays, the primitive but very portent stem cells in the Wharton jelly can be extracted and cultured to become differentiated into different kinds of cells.

The discovery of the great potential of these stem cells is said to be potentially one of medicine’s greatest innovations.

Wharton Jelly Banking in Thailand

Since stem cell therapy is becoming more popular, people are starting to entertain the idea of preserving their child’s cord blood stem cells through Wharton jelly banking acting as a biological Insurance policy for Families. Though Wharton jelly stem cells can be obtained via donation fairly easily, it is always advised to have a close family genetic match that can be easily used during stem cell therapies without fear of rejection.  Using donated stem cells are generally 99% safe however there is always the risk of experiencing adverse body reactions to incompatible cell types. This happens mainly by a person’s immune system that recognizes its own signature of body cells and considers all other cells to be foreign invading bodies that should be destroyed immediately . Securing your own personalized family source of stem cells may save you a lot of efforts, money and time in finding a perfectly matched cell type via public stem cell banks. In many countries around the world, public stem cell banks are not even an option.

Wharton Jelly Cell Storage

Wharton Jelly stem cell banks offer the extraction and cryogenic cell storage services where they extract/collect a new born child’s stem cells or cord tissue and store it indefinitely until future use is needed. If needed in medical use the stem cell banks can activate and prepare the cells for use in 24-48 hours from first request. This can be critical in time sensitive injuries such as heart attacks, strokes, brain and spinal injuries. The planned storage is also advantageous as our labs are able to study the quality and quantity of stem cells present the jelly or cord tissue so that the parents will know exactly how they can be utilized for stem cell therapies in the future, should the unfortunate need arise.

If you are interested in Wharton jelly banking or stem cell banking using cord blood, dental pulp or placenta derived stem cells please contact us today. Protecting your family’s future through Wharton jelly banking can be a good option for those who feel it’s better to be prepared for the future of regenerative medical care with cell banking in Bangkok.

Adult Somatic vs Embryonic Derived Stem Cells

Embryonic and Adult stem cells or somatic stem cells are two of the most common sources of bio-engineered cell based regenerative medicine today. Adult “post-natal” stem cells are sometimes referred to as somatic stem cells.

Somatic Stem Cell Transplant for MS

The main function of somatic stem cells in your body is to maintain tissue health or “homeostasis” by making sure your body naturally replenish damaged cells in the process known as senescence.  Your body’s repair is mediated and controlled by your stem cells. Adult stem cells or somatic stem cells along with other types of stem cells derived from placenta, cord blood, embryos are all believed to have the capability to self-renew and regulate themselves along with the remarkable ability to differentiate into any type of specialized cell types in your body such as blood, tissue, bone, skin cells etc. The potential for somatic stem cells to trans-differentiate is the foundation for the treatments we offer at the Regeneraration Center. Your somatic stem cells have very important implications and applications in our regenerative medicine techniques. somatic derived stem cells have been used to treat a wide variety of illnesses and ranging from tissues and organs including the liver, lungs, brain, heart, and even external epithelial tissues such as skin grafts to heal burns and accident scars.

The process of deriving somatic cells and embryonic stem cells are very different. Our treatments primarily used autologous somatic stem cells or matched donated allogeneic derived stem cells from cord blood, placenta and dental pulp derived stem cells. Embryonic derived stem cells are no longer necessary as modern regenerative science has discovered new less controversial means of deriving stem cells that produce better more consistent results for our Mesenchymal enriched stem cell therapy.

The fusion of egg and sperm gametes during conception initiates the human fertilization cycle where  the diploid zygote initiates a multi-stage process of cellular divisions that ultimately results in a multi-cellular human embryo.  The next stage of the cycle is called a “blastocyst” and is characterized by the distinct presence of a outer and inner cell mass known as a “blastocyst cavity.”

Embryonic stem cells are generally derived exclusively from the inner cell of the blastocyst cell.  Embryonic stem cells are extremely powerful and are fully capable of self-renewal and can also differentiate into all cell types from the mesoderm, ectoderm and endoderm lineages.

Somatic stem cells are also present in many fetus and post-natal tissues such as liver cells, bone marrow, adipose fat, peripheral blood and even teeth. Like embryonic derived stem cells, somatic or adult derived “post-natal” stem cells are also very capable of self-renewing and differentiating into other cell types and lineages although not the extent and uncontrollable nature of embryonic derived stem cells. Motor neuron stem cells and functional medicine for cognitive decline are the most widely used lines of stem cells in the treatment for Diabetes, cerebral palsy, heart disease, and stem cell transplants for kidney disease.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell Isolation & Expansion of MSC+ Cells

UPDATED – August 21, 2020 Mesenchymal (MSC) derived stem cells are the bodies own restoration system. Nature allows MSC cells to deliver a homing signal that helps recruit other stem cells in the body to mobilize and “fix” an injured area.  Researchers at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine have recently reported that MSC Mesenchymal stem cells are much better prepared to begin the bodies natural recovery process. Much more than even the self-repair done by the damaged tissues themselves.

Types of MSCs Stem Cells

Doctors have been extracting MSC cells for the use of stem cell treatments in Thailand for over 10 years now. The MSC cells are typically drawn out from  bone marrow, blood, adipose tissue or dental pulp and then processed and expanded in close system stem cells labs in Bangkok. The MSC+ stem cells are then grafted or delivered via IV drips to the patient to begin the regeneration process.  After years of successful treatment the doctors have developed a distinct protocol that promotes rapid signaling and healing with cell populations in the patients body. Evidence has clearly shown that patients receiving MSC derived cells recover much more quickly than those patients who had not received treatments in Thailand through direct MSC enriched stem cell grafts.

What Are Mesenchymal Stem Cells?

The key to regenerative medicine and healing today should not hinge on the location of the grafted MSC+ stem cells. The human physique, already has a natural delivery system that can be used to promote a faster healing process.  Researchers have also looked into the overall habits of MSC+ stem cells in a wide array of before and after stem cell treatments including patients with Diabetes,Crohn’s disease, congestive heart failure, bone defects, cerebral palsy and arthritis or joint/ ligament damage repair. Although MSC+ Stem cells have been known as the magic behind stem cells in the use of regenerative medicine and tissue repair,up until now long term studies had not been completed so doctors and researchers had not been able to discuss exactly how MSC+ stem cells function along with other Multipotent cell lines including neural stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells, pancreatic stem cells, cardiac stem cells and neural progenitor adult stem cell activators.

Our stem cell doctors are finding even uses of the signaling or “homing” powers of MSC+ cells that will hopefully eliminate the need for eternal  injections of stem cells for a truly cell-free treatment protocol that only uses the bodies own hospital. We home to establish new and innovative treatments by utilizing cellular molecules as medication as an alternative to costly and inefficient pharmaceutical treatments of today.

Mesenchymal stem cells typically refers to adult stem cells that are derived from several types of tissues in the human body such as adipose tissue. However, there is still confusion as to whether different tissues carry the same type of mesenchymal stem cells from from autologous transplants or allogeneic transplants.

MSC cells are short for “Mesenchymal Stromal Cells” and are considered to be multipotent cells that can naturally differentiate themselves into a variety of vital stem cell types with the added feature or “immortality.” The MSC cells have the amazing capacity to keep self renewing.

Several Types of MSC Stem Cell Lineages

Mesenchymal Stromal Cells have been clinically proven to be able to differentiate in vitro [1] (in the lab) or in vivo (in people) into cell types such as:

  • Adipocytes [2]
  • Osteoblasts [3]
  • Blood Cells and Hepatocytes
  • Chondrocytes [4]
  • Myocytes
  • Brain Cells and Neurons
  • Pancreatic islet cells for treatment in Diabetes

Regeneration center of Thailand offers a unique protocol using MSC stem cells from cord blood, Dental Pulp, Amniotic Membrane, Peripheral Blood and placenta derived MSC stem cells in most of our regenerative medicine programs.

Stem Cell Infused Contact Lenses Help to Restore Sight

University of Sheffield researchers have developed a contact lens implant that could potentially help millions of blind people across the world to retain or or even regenerate their vision.

Scientists hope that a new biodegradable eye implant loaded with autologous stem cells will naturally multiply thus allowing your body to heal its vision naturally. Autologous adult Stem cells are the building blocks of all human tissue growth. Stem cells have the capability to transform into virtually any other type of tissue or cell in the human body. The ground breaking technology was initially designed to help treat damaged corneas.

Corneal Damage is a Leading Reason for Vision Loss

Corneal damage often occurs due to injuries on the outermost surface of the eyes usually from damage such as infections, eye surgeries, hereditary corneal defects or even inflammation from having chronic dry eyes. Symptoms of eye being damaged include tearing, light sensitivity, eye pain or blurred vision.

The new stem cell contact implants work effectively by converting/mimicking the structural functionality of the eyes. Doctors have also developed a new way of producing the delicate membranes on the eyes to help better graft the helper stem cells onto the patients eyes, by using a complex protocol that allows the researchers to make a new disc out of biodegradable materials that can be temporarily affixed over the blind patients cornea. The stem cells discs are loaded autologous stem cells that naturally tend to multiply and regenerate allowing your healing system to fix the damaged eyes gradually.

Currently the standard treatments for someone with corneal blindness includes implanting donated corneal transplant membranes. Clinical studies have shown that the stem cell vision treatment are not perfect and can fail after just a few years due to lack of retention of the implanted autologous stem cells on the cornea. A vital feature of the new stem cell contact lenses is that they contains many small pockets to protect and house the optical stem cells allowing them to remain grouped in the eyes longer.
