Qualifications

• Master’s Degree Required ( Human genetics or Genetic Counseling)
• Medical Board Eligiblity Required

Job Responsibilities include:

• This position at the Regeneration Center in Bangkok is for an educator to provide counseling to patients after genetic screenings.
• Ideal candidates should be comfortable discussing associated risks, benefits, and limitations of genetic testing and assist patients in making informed decisions.
• Collaborate with other health care professionals in the industry to gain new insights in Cancer Prevention and Genetic Risk Assessments
• Help market the Regeneration Center Genetic Risk Assessment Program.
• Create new resources for patients and families when material is lacking.
• Attend local and international Interdisciplinary conferences to Identify and create new educational materials.

Patient Care Requirements:

• Ideal candidates should be able to provide genetic counseling to patients and respond to individual or family needs
• Provides private counseling in a complete and comprehensive manner.
• Compile previous patient-family history from patients and appropriate family members.
• Analyze given information to help patients and families understand risk assessment models with individualized risk assessments
• Counsel patients and family members with complex psychosocial issues related to positive results and help manage potential distress of results.
• Address ethical concerns of DNA testing based discrimination by insurance companies or in the workplace.
• Provide follow-up care and long term phone counseling for patients who had abnormal test results.
• Help locate international support groups for patients for their needs.
• Coordinating with Regeneration Center physicians and appropriate departments.
• Organize appropriate genetic testing for patients and family members.

Communication and Documentation Requirements:

• Maintains communications with patients and families throughout decision-making resolution.
• Provides written communications for patients and referring care providers.
• Evaluates medical intake forms for testing and follow-up of care.
• Documents all verbal communications and correspondences with patients using in-house patient software.

Genetic Screening Program Development and Implementation:

• Create appropriate protocols to be used by Regeneration Center staff.
• Participation in Local community awareness campaigns
• Remain active in professional organizations
• Publish new research findings in relevant journals and medical abstracts
